Do you like to create birdhouses and bird feeders? Do all of your friends marvel at your creations and ask you to make one for them? If so, you’ll want to enter the Beautiful Birdhouse Contest at the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center. This contest challenges adults and children from across the region to use their imaginations to create birdhouses or bird feeders that are unusual, whimsical, or just plain beautiful. Entries can be in one of two divisions: children ages 6-16 or adults ages 17 and up. The adult entries will be judged on creativity of design, quality of construction, and uniqueness of the materials used. The children’s entries will be judged on creativity of design, uniqueness of materials, and overall look.

WDC LogoThe display of birdhouses and bird feeders will open on June 4. People’s Choice voting will run from June 4 – 30. The announcement of the winners and the auction will happen at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 1. The birdhouses/bird feeders entered in the contest will be stay on exhibit at the Weathter Discovery Center when the contest concludes. In addition, entrants may choose to donate their birdhouse/bird feeder for a silent auction to raise funds for the Weather Discovery Center. The silent auction will begin after the announcement of the winners on July 1 and continue through July 16 at 4 p.m.

The deadline to submit a contest entry form is April 30 with birdhouses/bird feeders being submitted no later than May 31.
