There are countless beautiful places to cast a line and enjoy a day fishing in the PA Great Outdoors region. We are blessed to have two nationally designated Wild & Scenic Rivers, the Clarion and Allegheny, teaming with fish. Many of the clear cold mountain streams in the area are home to wild brook trout. The Pennsylvania Fish Commission and many local sportsmen’s Clubs stock the waterways in our region with trout as well.

This year when you head to your favorite fishing hole make sure to take a picture of your catch so you can enter the 2016 PA Great Outdoors Big Fish Contest. The contest runs from April through June. All you have to do to enter is catch a fish in Cameron, Clarion, Elk, Forest, or Jefferson Counties and snap a picture. Then, just share your photos on PAGOBigFish.com. All entries in the contest will be posted to the PA Great Outdoors Facebook page.

Each month a random winner will be selected from all entries received during that month. Monthly winners will receive prizes from Arrowhead Outdoors, Cooksburg Café, Country Squirrel Outfitters, Double Diamond Deer Ranch, Elk Country Visitor Center, Jim’s Sports Center, and Pale Whale Canoe Fleet. The grand prize winner will be randomly selected from all entries received during the entire contest. The grand prize is Half-Day Fully Guided Fly Fishing Float trip for two with Keystone Predator Outfitters and guide Todd Deluccia who is the 2014 World Musky Fly Fishing Champion. You can learn more about the fishing and the waterways in PA Great Outdoors online at VisitPAGO.com or by calling (814) 849-5197.
