Nothing welcomes warmer weather more than a backyard barbecue. Every master of the grill has a special secret that they feel makes their barbecue different and better. For some it is the spices in their dry rub and for others the secret is in their sauces. Whether you like your barbecue sweet, spicy, or smokey, there will be something for every taste at the Clarion BBQ Festival April 29th & 30th in the parking lot of the Clarion Mall. The event will feature the grilling and barbecue talents of local, regional, and backyard grillers in the Clarion area. Visitors can enjoy a “smoking good time” sampling ribs, chops, pork, and more culinary delights.
The festival gets underway on Friday April 29th at 4PM. A patriotic ceremony with the presentation of colors starts at 4:15PM with Andrea Maitland Estadt singing the National Anthem. Doug Bauer will conduct a BBQ Class at 6PM with live music to follow from 7-9PM.
Saturday April 30th things get under way at 11AM and continue until sunset with live music and children’s games all day. There will also be a table decorating contest and the Backyard BBQ Contest judging will take place at 1PM, 3PM, and 5PM.
Admission is only $5.00 per person which includes 3 tickets for samples. Children 5 and under are free. Proceeds benefit the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center and the Clarion University Tippin Scholarship Fund.
