Clarion County

Discover Clarion County

Award winning Clarion County is the western gateway to the PA Great Outdoors and Pennsylvania Wilds regions, and home of two federally designated National Wild & Scenic Recreation rivers-the Clarion and the Allegheny.  The Allegheny River was named “2017 Pennsylvania River of the Year”.  The Redbank Valley Trail was DCNR’s first “Pennsylvania Trail of the Year”.  Men’s Journal called Cook Forest State Park “America’s Best Old-Growth Forest” and Clarion’s Autumn Leaf Festival was honored as Pennsylvania Wilds’ “2017 Event of the Year”.

Clarion

Clarion is a lively “University Town” located in the middle of the county along the banks of Piney Reservoir on the Clarion River. It’s easily reached by car via Interstate 80 (exit 62) from Pittsburgh, Cleveland, New York City, Buffalo, and Erie. There are forest-covered mountains in every direction, which makes it a very scenic place in all four seasons.

East Brady

East Brady is a community that celebrates life on the Allegheny with Riverfest, which is a fun filled family event each July. Downtown, visitors will find a new mural called “Playground of the Allegheny”. Pool #9 is the northern most deep-water pool on the river and is popular with power boats and jet skis. Nearby Brady’s Bend Overlook offers a stunning panoramic view of river valley below.

Foxburg

On the banks of Allegheny River, you’ll find the charming resort town of Foxburg. The town has a thriving performing arts center, featuring an art gallery and Lincoln Hall, which is the home of The Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ. Visitors can enjoy restaurants with views of the river, a winery, a tour operator, a chocolatier, an inn, and the Foxburg Country Club, which the oldest golf course in continuous use in America.

New Bethlehem

New Bethlehem is charming town on the banks of Redbank Creek and home to the Redbank Valley Trail, which was the first trail in the state to earn the honor of “Pennsylvania Trail of the Year”. The town is proud host of many popular annual events, including the Clarion County Fair and the Peanut Butter Festival.

Cook Forest

Cook Forest State Park gives visitors the chance to explore ancient stands of giant trees. Men’s Journal called it “America’s Best Old-Growth Forest”. The Clarion River flows through the park and is popular with both paddlers and fishermen. Seneca Point and the nearby fire tower offer spectacular views of river valley below. The area surrounding the park has many vacation rentals, restaurants, shops, and fun attractions to enjoy.  The Cook Forest Sawmill Center for the Arts host many events each season.
