Jefferson County
Discover Jefferson County
Being home to the world’s most famous weather forecaster, Punxsutawney Phil, gives Jefferson County bragging rights. Small town charm is our specialty. Unique shops and restaurants invite you to visit the historical Main Streets, meet some friendly faces, and make memories that will last a lifetime. Travelers can explore Beartown Rocks, Cook Forest and Clear Creek State Parks. Here, visitors can see a baseball bat factory, a moonshine distillery, giant carved boulders, and the world’s first four-wheel drive vehicle.

Brockway
In Brockway, visitors will find the Clarion/Little Toby Trail which offers year-round hiking and biking through the remote and scenic Little Toby Creek Valley. A canoe launch in Brockway and the new Little Vineyard launch offer paddlers easy access to Little Toby Creek and the Wild & Scenic Clarion River downstream. The Taylor Memorial Museum is notable for its vast display of glass from local industry. Make sure to check out Brockway’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July picnic and fireworks celebration at Taylor Memorial Park. Shoppers can go bargain hunting at the Hazen Flea Market the first weekend of each month from May to October.

Brookville
Brookville is travel a hub with I-80 and routes 322, 36, and 28 converging nearby. The town features a charming restored Victorian Main Street with quaint shops, restaurants, striking architecture, a beautiful historical district. The northern trailhead for Redbank Valley Trail, Pennsylvania’s first “Trail of the Year”, is conveniently located near downtown. Twyford, the first four-wheel drive ever made, was built in Brookville and the Jefferson County History Center has one on display, along with many interesting exhibits and an impressive model railroad. Scripture Rocks Heritage Park features over 70 engraved boulders carved in the early 1900’s. At Blackbird Distillery visitors can sample America’s only completely handmade moonshine.

Punxsutawney
Punxsutawney is the home of the world’s foremost weather prognosticator, Punxsutawney Phil, and is party central for the nation’s Groundhog Day celebration every February 2nd at Gobbler’s Knob. Each July, visitors can enjoy the fun of the Groundhog Festival. Make sure to visit the Groundhog Club Headquarters and Phil’s Burrow. The Weather Discovery Center is perfect for school age children with intriguing hands-on interactive exhibits. No trip to the weather capital of the world would be complete without posting some great selfies with one of the dozens of Phantastic Phils sculptures throughout town.

Reynoldsville
Reynoldsville is a good place to experiencing “Small Town America” with unique shops and restaurants. The nearby DuBois/Jefferson County airport offers travelers easy access to the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region with multiple daily flights to and from Pittsburgh and Baltimore. BWP Bats offers free tours of the baseball bat manufacturing process using local hardwoods. The annual Red, White, & Blueberry Festival features an always hysterical blueberry pie eating contest and Hummingbird Speedway offers visitors high speed thrills with Saturday night dirt track racing.

Cook Forest
Cook Forest State Park gives visitors the chance to explore ancient stands of giant trees. Men’s Journal called it “America’s Best Old-Growth Forest”. The Clarion River flows through the park and is popular with both paddlers and fishermen. Nearby Clear Creek State Park is a beautiful one-of-a-kind place nestled deep in a valley featuring spectacular views at Beartown Rocks and the stunning Western Pennsylvania Laurel Fields.
