In southwestern Clarion County, a sweeping bend in the Allegheny River nearly encircles a small peninsula of land, home to the quaint town of East Brady. The community has a close relationship with the waters surrounding it, and for the past few years, leaders with the East Brady Borough and East Brady Area Development Corporation (EBADC) have been building Riverfront Park at the southwest corner of town.

Tucked between the river and a nearby skatepark and playground, this 1/2-acre community recreation outlet features access to the Armstrong Trail, a paved switchback to the river, picnic tables for outdoor dining, an informational kiosk, and a large concrete pad earmarked for a future pavilion at the center of the park. A 2015 Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program grant funded these improvements, but the grant didn’t cover the pavilion itself, which will cost $20,000.

Ultimately, community organizers hope to add a fishing pier to the park in addition to the future pavilion and existing improvements.

To complete this part of their vision for the park, EBADC has pledged to match up to $10,000 in donations toward the pavilion and challenges the public to help them meet their goal. The fundraising campaign will run through August 31, 2018, and a donor contributing $5,000 or more will receive naming rights for the pavilion. Once complete, the pavilion will include a plaque or sign identifying significant donors to the project.

To make your tax-deductible donation, please send a check to EBADC at P.O. Box 355, East Brady, PA 16028. Your donation will be recognized by letter.
