From its genesis near the small town of Kersey in south-central Elk County, the Little Toby Creek cuts through a beautiful valley lined with hardwood forests. As it works its way southwest and slowly begins to widen, it approaches Brockway, then turns north toward the Clarion River.

Paddlers can start their adventure at the public launch, often called “the trestle launch” in the Brockway Industrial Park. The Little Vineyard Launch lies 4.5 miles downstream, and from there, canoers and kayakers can continue several miles to where the Little Toby meets the Clarion River near Portland Mills. Paddling here is best in the spring and after rainfalls. To complement the river’s recreational offerings, the adjacent Clarion-Little Toby Trail and game lands provide opportunities for hiking, bicycling, wildlife watching, fishing, photography, and hunting. The Blue Rock swinging bridge is popular attraction for both paddlers and hikers.
