A festival in a small town is a much anticipated event each year. People gather to socialize with friends and enjoy an old fashioned good time. The community comes together and feels a sense of pride. Each year in Forest County “festival” week is a homecoming for many and the camps around the area are packed with people all wanting to experience a special slice of Americana you just can’t find in the city. Tionesta celebrates their rich heritage with the 51st annual Tionesta Indian Festival from August 16-21. Enjoy performances by the Allegheny River Indian Dancers, Spirit Wings and even Elvis. The event has three parades…Kiddie Parade, Indian Costume Parade, and the Grand Parade with the Zem Zem Shriners on Saturday August 20th. The evening ends with a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
The always popular Fun Park will have lots of inflatable games and activities for the kids, including a dunking booth. There will be plenty of live music, trash and treasure sales, along with tournaments and prizes. Vendors will be offering arts and crafts, a variety of delicious food, and a chicken BBQ too. Enjoy sweet treats at the Yummage sale and cookie barn. The festival wraps up on Sunday with the Neil Sneeringer Memorial Car & Motorcycle Cruise-In.
Beer Wagon and wine tastings will be available to guests 21 and older. Visitors can tour the Sherman Memorial Lighthouse and see chainsaw carvings by local artists. Visit downtown Tionesta for a week filled with family fun, events and activities. Check out their Facebook page at Tionesta Indian Festival for more information.
