The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce the launch of the new Uncork the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Tasting Trail featuring a brochure, website, and Facebook page to promote the thriving wineries, distilleries, one of the oldest breweries in the country, and related tasting events throughout the 5 county PA Great Outdoors region.
Regional wineries, distilleries, breweries and tasting events are becoming increasingly popular with travelers. In a study commissioned by the Pennsylvania Winery Association they found that over 1.2 million tourists visited Pennsylvania wineries in 2011. The number of wineries in the PAGO region has nearly doubled since that survey was conducted.
“The number of winery locations that have opened in the last few years has been a great asset for tourism in this region. Straub Brewery has always been a huge attraction but now we have a great variety of wineries that appeal to almost any drinker and the new moonshine distillery in Brookville has been swamped with travelers because they’re so unique.” said Sara Frank, Marketing and Publications Coordinator for the PA Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau. “It seems like we’re constantly in touch with these members as they announce new products, events and promotions. They want us to help get the word out to the thousands of travelers we are able to reach through our email newsletters and facebook fans. The Uncork PAGO brochure gives us another great way to help promote them.”
The new Uncork PAGO trail is designed to provide visitors with easy access to information on local tasting locations along with wine and beer tasting events in the region. The Uncork PAGO trail currently has 14 highlighted locations. The brochure and other information can also be found online at UncorkPAGO.com and the Uncork the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Facebook page provides regular product and event updates.
