St. Marys Monuments installed a beautiful black granite bench honoring the American Legion Post 978 in the Mt. Zion Historical Park on Tuesday, April 13, 2017. The Mt Zion Historical Society has had the pleasure to have worked hand in hand over the years with the Legion on various Veterans’ projects, and this is yet another symbol of the cooperation between the organizations and their goals. The bench is among the memorials being dedicated on May 27th, 2017 at the annual Memorial Day Dedication. We want to thank the Legion for this wonderful addition to the Park. We encourage everyone to please stop by and see what we have done.

Mt. Zion Park Gets New Split Rail Fence

After the nasty March weather here in North-western, PA., our Mt. Zion Historical Society team began work at the Mt. Zion Historical Park with replacing the split rail fence welcoming visitors to the walkway. The post had begun to rot at ground level, so installing a new fence was approved by the board. In just one long morning the men pulled the old fencing out, dug new post holes and set the new rails. The job was finished when the refuse was hauled away. The average age of the construction crew was over 70 years of age.
