Longtime big game hunter and gun enthusiast Vince Dougherty, along with son Brian, unveiled their NEW 5.7 Demon rifle and cartridge this fall at their business, Long Shot Ammo & Arms near New Bethlehem.

For several decades on his worldwide big game adventures, Vince used a .220 Swift for hunting. In the mid-1990s he began to experiment with faster twist rifle barrels that could shoot heavier bullets. The faster twist in the barrel creates higher rotation speeds and a flatter shooting trajectory over greater distances. Over the years, the idea of a new cartridge began to take shape. Working with a brass cartridge company in Texas, they refined their design and had custom cartridges made, trademarking it as the 5.7 Demon.
