There are lots of great things to discover in the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region. The last of our series of great things to see and do in each of the 5 counties that make up Pennsylvania’s Great Outdoors region and Cook Forest State Park. Here is a list of 10 great things to do in Cameron County.

A Great Place to take in the View
Bucktail Overlook also called “Top of the World” and the Mason Hill Overlook offers visitors commanding 360-degree panoramic views of Sinnemahoning watershed and dark skies for incredible star gazing.

A Great Place for Kayaking
The Sinnemahoning Water Trail offers paddlers more than 75 miles to explore through picturesque landscapes. Spend the day enjoy a scenic adventure in Bucktail Natural Area in Driftwood Valley and wonder at the beautiful Elk and Sproul State Forest in Sinnemahoning Valley.

A Great Place for Waterfalls
Quehanna Wild Area near Driftwood is a 1,215-acre state forest natural area with a 4.8-mile hiking loop, Quehanna trail, and two stunning waterfalls along Wykoff Run Road.

A Great Place to see Eagles
Cameron County is blessed with strong populations of both eagles and elk. The Cameron County Elk & Eagle Watching Guide features descriptions and GPS coordinates for 18 elk viewing locations and 9 eagle watching hotspots throughout the county.

A Great Place to connect with Nature
Wildlife Center at Sinnemahoning State Park Educational state-of-the-art highlight history & ecology of First Fork Valley. The park offers outdoor recreational and educational programs and very popular eagle and osprey watching pontoon boat tours.

A Great Place for History
The Little Museum in Sterling Run is “One of PA’s top 10 seasonal museums”. See more than 15,000 items including tools and photos from lumbering and dynamite industries, along with personal effects from Tom Mix and General Joseph McNarney.

A Great Place to Hike
West Creek Trail is a 19-mile rail-trail from Emporium to St. Marys for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

A Great Place to Relax
Sizerville State Park near Emporium is a 386 acres park with a pool that is surrounded by nearly a half-million acres of state forests. Popular activities include swimming, picnicking, hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, fishing, and hunting. Just outside the park visitors will find 66 miles of snowmobile trails and the Thunder Mountain Equestrian Trail.

A Great Place to get Dirty
The new Smoker’s Insane Terrain Offroad Park in Emporium features mud races, monster truck events, and much more fun in the mud.

A Great Place to Shop
Cameron County Chamber of Commerce and Artisan Center in Emporium displays and sells unique handmade products of more than 65 artisans.
