Nature has a magical way of relieving the stress of our busy world.  That is certainly a big part of why people enjoy coming to Pennsylvania’s Great Outdoors region.  In Cameron, Elk, and Forest Counties you can unplug and truly relax. What’s better than waking up to the smell of fresh pine-scented air and hearing birds chirping to welcome the new day?  Or sitting back and feeling the warm glow of your campfire as you watch the stars in the night sky?  There is nothing more refreshing for the soul than a day spent floating down one the wild and scenic waterways in the region. Our part of Pennsylvania is blessed with many hiking trails.  Some of the most spectacular hikes include Long Fellow Trail in Cook Forest State Park through the Forest Cathedral, Fred Woods Trail to Top of the World in Cameron County, Minister Creek Trail in Forest County, and Clarion-Little Toby Trail near Ridgway.

And man, do we have wildlife.  Eagles and osprey can often be seen soaring overhead along the rivers and lakes in the region. Otters are common along the Clarion River but can be difficult to spot. Elk and Cameron Counties are home to Pennsylvania’s wild elk herd, now number more than 1,400 of the majestic creatures.  Bird watchers will enjoy Cook Forest State Park, Buzzard Swamp near Marienville, and Ridge Road near Sinnemahoning State Park. Our forest is teaming with whitetail deer, black bear, wild turkey, and many other species both big and small. Gas up the car, lace up your hiking boots, grab your camera, load the kayak on the roof, grab the fishing gear, and reconnect with nature this year.  Plan your outdoor adventures at VisitPAGO.com.
