Cook Forest State Park is known for its stands of old-growth forest. The park’s Forest Cathedral of towering white pines and hemlocks is designated as a National Natural Landmark. The Forest Cathedral is a short hike on Longfellow Trail from the Log Cabin Inn Visitor Center. Many of the pines have been standing for well over 300 years, and some of the hemlocks are more than 400 years old.
