In the heat of summer, in the rural areas of Pennsylvania, a battle cry is heard amongst those searching for a bargain – Saaaallllleeee! The PA Great Outdoors has much to offer the thrifty shopper or the antique specialty seeker.

Hazen offers a Flea Market on the first weekend of the 1st Sunday, May to October with hundreds of vendors with a wide variety to offer the shopper on Saturday and Sunday. Antiques, crafts, and much more. I-80 Exit 81, Route. 28 North.

Enjoy the scenery of the Quehanna Wild Area while you shop Pennsylvania’s 100 Miles of Yard Sales (or 100 Mile Yard Sale). The annual sale — one of the largest in Pennsylvania and the entire Northeast — starts in Medix Run, Elk County and twists all the way to Shawville. The 2019 dates are July 19 – 20.
Many of the small-town festivals also incorporate a community yard sale including Weekend in the Wilds in Emporium (July 5 – 6), Vendor and Craft Day in Leeper (July 20), and Summer in the Country Open House at Pine Springs Pottery near New Bethlehem (August 3).

For those in search of something in the antique department, our region offers several spots to check into like:

Clarion Antique Mall, Antiques, historical, military, ephemera, toys. Open daily 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (Friday-Sunday only in January and February). I-80 Exit 60, four miles north on U.S. 66 to Junction 322 and 66 North.

Fryburg Old Treasures Depot, Antiques, collectibles, furniture, jewelry, books, and items by local artisans. If an item is not available, the customer is contacted when item is available. Route 208 in Fryburg.

Fulmer House Books & Collectibles, Looking for something spiffy? The Fulmer House has three floors of antiques, books, and collectibles to explore. Follow on Facebook for more information. Wood Street, Clarion.

Grant’s Pass Antiques & Wrought Iron, this shop specializes in wrought iron artwork. Special orders, railings and gates made to order. Fabricated on premises. Plasmacam on site. They also buy and sell antiques, gifts, souvenirs, jewelry and more. Route 555, Benezette.

Heirloom Quilting & Antiques, A quilter’s heaven. More than 9,000 bolts of 100-percent cotton fabric, including flannels and homespuns. HQ quilting machines, stitch machines and Accuquilt, sprinkled with antiques throughout the shop. Rt 36, Brookville.

Open House Shop. Unique collection of antiques, authentic primitive home furnishings, Jack Daniels barrels, custom fire rings and kitchen tables, restored furniture, and gifts all at reasonable prices. Open daily year-round. 285 Main St, Brookville.
