If you’re looking for something fun to do with the entire family, Kalyumet Fore Fun in Cook Forest has a thrilling opportunity you can’t find anywhere else. Owners Mark and Becky Wineman have debuted “Escape in Cook Forest,” a virtual reality escape room experience that’s the first of its kind in Pennsylvania. In the game, players solve clues to free themselves from a mysterious mansion.
PAGO’s Jamie Popson went to Kalyumet to try the experience for herself, and she returned to the office brimming with excitement about the new opportunity. “My kids would LOVE this,” she said, noting that the setup for up to four players is perfect for families or groups of friends. “You work together to figure out how to escape from each room and move on to the next.”
Once you put on the headset and headphones and start the game, she said, the mansion’s butler explains your objective, and teaches you how to use your controllers to interact with the virtual environment. You begin your adventure in the mansion’s attic with your hands chained and must first overcome that obstacle before you can move on and begin looking for clues that will lead you to freedom.
The one-hour experience costs $20 per person, and reservations can be made by calling (814) 744-8768. Kalyumet Fore Fun is open on weekends until Memorial Day, then daily until October. In addition to the VR escape room, the entertainment destination offers a wide range of family-friendly activities, including outdoor laser tag, mini golf, an arcade, an ice cream shop, and much more. Next door, Kalyumet Camping & Cabins features cabin rentals, tent campsites, and RV campsites. Visit KalyumetForeFun.com for more information.
