Tour the Sherman Memorial Lighthouse, PA’s only inland working lighthouse.  The Sherman Memorial Lighthouse was built on top of a 25-foot high landmass, named Lighthouse Island.  The towering 75-foot tall creation gives a breathtaking scenic view of the Allegheny River, one of the two federally designated National Wild and Scenic Recreation Rivers of the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region.  The island is surrounded by the Allegheny River and Tionesta Creek.

Climbing the spiral staircase, you will witness the heirlooms of the Sherman family along with lighthouse memorabilia. There is a free video of the lighthouse construction shown continuously in an adjacent, handicap accessible building for anyone unwilling or unable to climb the 75 stairs.

Self-guided tours of the gorgeous structure are held only several times a year for fundraising events benefiting the Tionesta Lions’ Club.
